"They simply picked them like flowers from the steppes. All brought together for one purpose….. for beauty in a sultan’s eye….. all bunched up together and confined in the narrow neck of the vase. A price paid in gold and wrapped in the blood red shawl. Their lives uprooted, transplanted to a foreign place, to thirst, to wilt and to turn to dust. How many were there? How long the ordeal?
As many as there are flowers in a field.
And yet… it goes on still."
