This is a slightly different view of the same mountain range as in the “Dreaming Tree” painting, but at a later point in the evening. A nocturne scene always provides a challenge, as subtle lighting is very difficult to capture in a painitng.

I wanted to portray the fading moments of twilight using a cool colour palette. The alpine grasses and shrubs provided the much needed pops of warm colour to bring the scene to life. The result was very satisfying when I finally found the right balance of colour and contrast.
